Staff Accountant

Middleburg, FL

Role Overview:

Prepares and maintains financial records to track the organization’s assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Performs general cost accounting and other related duties for the organization.
  • Collaborates with Accounting Manager to prepare monthly balance sheets, income statements, inventory statements and other related month end reports.
  • Maintains the general ledger account reconciliation.
  • Assists with coding accounts payable invoices, sets up new vendors, reconciles accounts, and makes payments to vendor invoices.
  • Applies payments to customer invoices and maintains accounts receivable reports.
  • Maintains and monitors company credit card online program.
  • Maintains asset lists and documentation, including fleet management driver allocation.
  • Reconciles bank accounts on a monthly basis and verifies all deposits.
  • Supports the annual audit process by compiling and providing necessary documentation and account details to external auditors.
  • Files sales tax forms with state agencies
  • Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field (or actively pursuing degree).
  • Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience.
  • Experience in the construction industry is a plus.

 

Capabilities:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Solid understanding of financial and cost accounting principles.
  • Skilled in preparing and filing sales tax returns accurately and on time.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and accounting software.

 

Working Conditions:

  • Standard office environment with little exposure to the elements.
  • Extended use of computer, keyboard and monitors.
  • Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time.

  • This position is 100% onsite and requires the employee to be physically present at our office in Middleburg, FL during regular business hours.
